Day 3

Last night I was in excruciating pain, so I took my T3 before I went to bed and found that they really aren't doing anything for me.  Except for cause me not to sleep.  So I didn't make it up in time to do my workout this morning.  I didn't even have time to have my breakfast!  I didn't even have time to make myself a lunch! Not a good start to the day that's for sure!  So I got my shower in, got dressed and rushed out the door in pain and all and got myself to work in time.  I guess in a way I do get kind of a workout there.  You have to reach to the top shelves to get smokes for people, walk around for about 15 min to get the garbages done and then run around behind the till when you get a long line up to make sure everyone is happy.  Ok so not so much, but anyways...

I had myself something to eat finally at 2, I opted for a chicken salad sandwich.  Hey, it could've been worse, I could've had a bag of chips or a chocolate bar.  But I didn't.  All I really wanted was something that would tide me over till I got home.  My roomie was nice enough to bring me my T3's during the last 45 min of my shift which was good because the 2 ibprofen I took earlier on in the day seemed to do absolutely nothing for me.  I took a T3 10 min before I was off and stayed 10 min longer to have a smoke before making my way home.  I thought that maybe I would take the longer way home because it would count as my workout and then the mosquito's were so bad I just wound up going the short way.

Once I got home I decided to have tomato sandwich for supper and then talked to my aunt on the phone prolonging the workout.  I just didn't want to do it!  My back feels so tight and my stomach hurts too.  But I got off the phone, stripped off the socks and started the ol' wii up.  I did my breathing excersise to start, followed by the half moon, finishing off with the warrior pose for my warm up.  To get me going on the workout I did the basic step up, which took about 5 min and then the advanced which took another 5 and finishing it off with the free step up for 10 min.  To cool down I did the breathing excersise once more and there you go!  My workout was complete!  I figured with the 10 min walk in the morning, then 10 after work, and 20 min of aerobics, that's not to bad of a work out.  I also made sure to weigh myself and it looks like I've lost 2 lbs since Monday!!!  I am so excited!  Can't wait to see what Jeremy has for me tomorrow!

Day 2

This morning I woke up at 9am absolutely starving.  I made myself a bowl of special K cereal and sliced up a banana to put in my cereal to kick start my morning right.  Impressive for me because I never, and I mean never, eat breakfast unless I have Dayton and Donovan here or else if I've been up for at least since 8am.  I made myself a cup of coffee and filled my 3 cup water bottle, took an IBprofen for my headache and started my morning.

I was supposed to be at my meeting at 10am, however, I woke up with a migraine headache and had to take my pill before I went anywhere.  So I called Jeremy and asked if I could possibly come in a little bit later.  He was ok with that so I went in for 2.  My friend Cassandra got ahold of me on Skype and we made arrangements to go for a quick coffee before my appointment.  We went to Tim Horton's for lunch and coffee and instead of going with my usual large chicken salad sandwich on white, I opted for the Turkey Bacon Club on whole wheat regular sized.  I guess 2 donuts wasn't really the right choice in regards to healthy eating but I figure that since I have been trying to eat so healthy and haven't really been doing that bad that it was ok to indulge in my craving.  It will probably be the last junky thing that I have for a couple weeks which is just fine in my eyes.

I went to my appointment at 2 thinking that I wasn't going to be doing a whole lot and boy oh boy was I wrong!  Jeremy had quite a few things for me to work on!  He started me on the treadmill walking for about 5 - 7 minutes, then had me doing some stretching in the legs on 2 different pieces of equipment.  I don't know what they are called but I tell you they sure stretched me and I started to feel it right away.  Boy am I out of shape!  Once that was done we went on to the mats on the floor and I said, oh boy.   It's always so hard for me to get up off the floor!  I did it anyways and they are easy stretches to do, hopefully I can describe it properly.

The first one we did was you sit on the mats with one leg extended and the other foot is resting just on the inside of your inner thigh.  Leaning forward slightly and this helps with some of the muscles in your back and inner thigh muscles as well.  Second one was to lay on your back and put your right foot on top of your left knee and then bend your left knee in the air while slightly pulling on your left knee with your right hand.  I was not able to go through my legs and grab my left leg so I was able to just pull my right ankle and it works just the same.  We did it with the other leg and we just held the poses for about 40 sec to 1 min.  Not sure which one.  Finally we laid flat on the mat and pointed our toes down and reached as far as we could above our heads holding that for about 1 min as well.  I felt my back crack and pop in about 6 different places and I tell you, it felt pretty good.

From there we went to the railing and he had me reach across my chest keeping my torso flush with the railing and then just leaning back a little bit.  Again, it's all back muscles that are being stretched because of my Scoliosis so we are just trying to get them nice and strong.  I repeated with the other hand and then it was off to the bicycles where I thought I was going to die!  LOL  Before I got on the bicycle he had me go for a walk to the corner and back stopping for a drink and then got me right onto the bicycle.  He started me off with the tension at a 2 which was really easy and then bumped me up to a 6 which was a little bit harder to do.  My legs felt like they were turning into rubber by the end of the 9 minute stretch.

Once that was done we were back at the treadmill for another 8 minutes of walking.  Doing all of the stuff that he asked me to do was actually quite easy and didn't bother me at all.  I told him this and just said that my real concern was when I got home and was resting like I am right now.  I told him that I was concerned of the pain that I would experience when I stopped moving and he just simply said "Well then don't stop!"  LOL

Jeremy is very good at what he does and he should be, with the knowledge that he has and he motivated me through the whole workout today.  I am quite happy about that.  He did ask me about my healthy choice that I made today and I told him that I chose to have 3 glasses of water first thing in the morning.  He then told me that I was to do half an hour of any excersise of my choice tomorrow whether it be in the gym or here at home and that I was not allowed to have anything to eat 2 1/2 hours before bedtime.  It makes sense and I have decided that my good ol' pal the wii walk it out is going to be put to use tomorrow morning!  :)  So I get to see Jeremy one more time this week, on Thursday bright and early in the morning.  I'm pretty excited about that.  I'll be sure to write tomorrow to let you know how well I did with my workout in the morning!

Figured I'd come back and finish the entire day with my food log.  :)

Tonight my roomie made an awesome supper, she had a tossed salad with snap peas, red peppers, yellow peppers, cucumber, and cherry tomatoes added with a chicken breast on top!  It was sooooo good that even Charlie didn't want to leave my side while I was eating!  :)

Day 1

Ok so the smoking thing wasn't really a success... yet.  I will work on that once I start getting myself to a position where I can actually do it without going for food, so I have decided that the first step to that is to go on a diet and get these pounds off of me!

My first step was going to the doctor last Monday (On my birthday) to talk to him about what kinds of things I can do for excersise safely without triggering the scoliosis.  He didn't help much, perscribed T3's and told me to go get an xray done and then we'll talk about it.  So I took things a little further and went to The World Health Club website to get an appointment set up to talk to someone there and see if they can help me.  I went in for the first consultation on Tuesday and I signed up for a gym membership right then and there.  The kid that was talking to me was very nice and eager to get me set up with a personal trainer right away.  He talked with me on the phone for a little bit about what I wanted to accomplish and why I had decided to do this and he then told me that Jeremy (my personal trainer) has scoliosis as well and was very eager to meet me and discuss some further options.

Tuesday I went into the consultation and met Jeremy and while we were sitting there talking about what we could do, he told Cody (the kid who set up the appointment) he wanted to work with me personally.  He then proceeded to tell me what he wanted to do with me roughly.  What impressed me is that he really did seem to care and he really did seem to want to help me out.  I didn't know that that was how it worked in a gym.

Tonight I went for my second consultation with Jeremy.  I am still quite impressed with the way we are proceeding ahead.  Unfortunately, I only get 24 sessions with him and with the plan that he wants to do with me, it will be pretty costly.  Looks like I won't be doing alot of things that I want to do. (ex. buy a car, go on trips etc...)  It is worth it though because my health is first and foremost more important than anything at this point. Jeremy also asked me what my goal was for weight loss and when would I like to achieve it.  I told him that I wasn't sure what my ideal weight was for a person of my age and height but that I thought that it should be somewhere around 180-185.  I hit it right on the nose!  My ideal weight is supposed to be 181 so by this time next year I should be there with Jeremy's help.

So my thought to help me along my way is to keep a record of everything that I am doing to undergo this journey and what better way than to share with my family and friends on facebook!  I need all the inspiration and motivation to keep me going that I can get so I am really looking forward to your guy's comments!

Tomorrow I have my next consultation with Jeremy at 10 in the morning, he is going to be taking me to the Chiropractor area of the building because he had spoken to the girl about me and she really would like to meet me and talk about things that she might be able to do as well to help out.  For the next 4 weeks we are going to be working on strengthening the back with alot of stretching and treadmill work.  Then 8 weeks of toning the body with muscle so that the weight can come off and core excersises.  Finally 8 weeks will be concentrating on getting the weight off and staying off!  It's going to be a long journey but soooo worth it!  I am so glad that I went to that website!

Another thing that I have done to try and help me lose weight is I joined The Biggest Loser Club.  I am really interested to get things going there as well because they are going to be sending me a few of the books to help me get started in healthier eating and also I get a food log that I can record all of my calorie, fat, sodium intake and so on to keep me on track.  So with the biggest loser and Jeremy, and my determination, I am hoping to maybe be at my ideal weight ahead of my goal and then I can start the no smoking process once I notice the weight is coming off a bit more.  Anyways, this is the plan for the next little while, feel free to send me some of your favorite healthy foods or recipes that you would like to share!  I will write more tomorrow!  :)
