Days 89, 90, 91 - weigh in

It's been a few days, I know.  I've been pretty busy and to be quite honest, not able to blog these last couple of days considering the work schedule that I have had.  On Saturday I had hoped to at least get to the gym at some point in the evening considering I was off of work at 5pm.  However, with a terrible day I really didn't feel up to it.  I decided that maybe I would just stay home and get some kind of workout done here.  By the time I had gone to bed, the only thing that I had managed to do was my regular stretches and I figured that at least I did that.

Sunday morning Nikki and I met at the gym and wound up only working out on the treadmill for half an hour before going home.  I did my stretches again before bed and that was pretty much it.  It really hasn't  been very exciting around here.  However, as yesterday was weigh in, I will tell you that I have lost an additional 2 lbs this week.  I am happy with that number, would have liked to seen a different one, but 2 is definitely good enough.  As long as I'm going down, it doesn't really matter. :)  So my total weight loss to date is 28lbs down.  12 more to go and I start my next life changing goal!

This morning I woke up in a little bit of pain in the back but, other than that, I was feeling pretty good.  I got dressed, slacked off for about an hour and then wound up heading to the gym.  Today I started on the treadmill at a 2.6 speed and a 6.5 incline for 5 min.  I then decreased the incline to a 2.5 and slowly increased the speed to a 3.1 for 5 minutes.  I did a cool down for 5 min and then jumped on the eliptical where I was able to go for 15 min total!  I was quite happy with that and wound up doing a few of the weight lifting that Jeremy has me doing and then called it a day.  I will be going for Thanksgiving dinner with my family today and then after supper I am planning on going for a 15 min walk to finish off my workout for the day.  Once I get home, I will be doing some stretching and then tomorrow morning I will have my session with Jeremy at 8am.  Oh boy, and the early days start again!  I am so glad I got to sleep in today!  :)  Bye for now everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!

Day 88 - session

What a workout this morning!  After having a really bad sleep last night, I was surprised to have as much energy as I did this morning in my session.  I was up at 730 and ready to go by 8.  I went to McDonalds and got a couple of breakfast burritos for a change and a coffe and then to Esso to get a pack of smokes.  I quickly ate my food and headed over to the gym.

I signed in and glanced at the piece of paper telling me how many sessions I have left and asked the girl to check it again because I thought I had less sessions than what was recorded.  She said no, it was right and to maybe check with Jeremy to see if it was correct.  So, I put my stuff away and went upstairs where he was sitting in his office waiting patiently for me to arrive.  I asked him to check out the amount of sessions and it turns out I have 6 more with him.  Only 3 weeks and then I have to decide if I can afford to pay for more sessions with him.  I sure hope I can.

I started off on the treadmill on a 4.5 incline and a 2.4 speed but soon realized that I had to take it just a little bit slower as my left knee was giving me problems this morning.  It almost felt like it was going to buckle from beneath me.  So I slowed it down to a 2 and continued on for 10 min.  By this time Jeremy had come over to wipe down my machine and I was ready to go.

We went over to the bench press and I had to sit on the end and then using 5lb barbells stand up and extend my arms over my head 10 times.  At this point, there was a guy that walked up to us and Jeremy introduced us.  Paul was shadowing Jeremy today and would be with us for the duration of our session.  Yay!  Two men to watch me struggle and sweat!  Just what I always wanted!  At that point I let Jeremy know about my left knee and he agreed to switch things up just a little bit so that I wasn't doing too much bending and lifting with my legs.  I then went over to the stairs and had to do 12 step ups with each leg, return to the bench press and this time lift 7.5lb barbells from sitting up over my head almost touching them together 12 times.  Back to the stairs to do step ups 12 times and then a calf stretch.  One more time for the barbells and then we went over to the other side of the gym.

On the other side I did the cross body stretch on the railing with each arm and then stretched with both arms.  Then I had to do 12 rowing pulls on each side lifting 25lbs and then down and up the stairs I went.  Back to the rowing pulls and stairs and then I had to do the walking lunges across the gym.  I was able to have a quick drink and break and then I had to do the trunk pulls 12 times on each side.  From there I did a 3 min sprint on the bike and then back to the trunk pulls again.  This time I had to lift 35lbs.  Back to the bike for another 3 min sprint and then we went over to the mats and I had to lay on my back and stretch as far as I could with my arms above my head and feet pointed the other direction.

I then had to do 15 ab crunches, roll over and do the plank and then rest.  I had counted 15 seconds as I held it, but Jeremy counted 13.  So I did the ab crunches another 15 times and did the plank again.  Only this time he timed me.  I was able to hold it for 18 seconds!  Longest so far that I have been able to hold it.  Jeremy then helped me with the next two stretches.  The first one was where I had to lay on my back and bring my left leg over my right one and he pulled it over to help me out by stretching those muscles out.  We repeated on the other side and because I wasn't saying anything he took it easy.  Apparently because I don't tell him when I'm hurting he watches my facial expressions and can tell when to stop pulling.  He then had me put my right ankle on my left knee and pushed towards me while holding my leg in place.  I then had to do the hamstring stretch on the machine and cool down.

It was an awesome session this morning and I am really happy with my determination today.  Although, as I sit here writing, I can feel my back tightening up and starting to hurt a bit.  So I'm sure when I go to work tonight my back won't be liking Jeremy at all.  My next session isn't until Tuesday at 8am as he is not working on Monday because of the holiday.  But, I will be working out everyday until then so the blog will be posted every day regardless.

Day 87

Today has been a pretty frustrating day in the way of work.  Again, we had nothing but problems with the new tills and to add to those problems, the debit transactions were unavailable in every Esso across Edmonton.  It's amazing how many people think it's the cashier's fault that the debit is not working.  I have been yelled at, and cursed at all day today!

For breakfast I had 2 pieces of whole wheat toast with peanut butter and jam on it and a coffee and then for lunch I had one of those lunchables without eating the chocolate bar.  Supper consisted of porkchops marinated in a bbq and catalina sauce with peppers, zucchini and carrots, onions and who knows what else for veggies.  It was very good!  After I had supper I did the cleanup, changed my shirt, and off I went to the gym.  I still had 3/4 of an hour to do for my cardio homework before tomorrow.

I put the incline on to a 4.5 and the speed on a 2.4 to start with and stayed om it for the first 30 min.  I then upped the incline to a 6.5 and increased the speed to a 2.6 for 15 min and then for the last 10 min increased the speed to a 2.8.  By the time I finished I had burned 501 calories and decided that I had better come home.  I stopped at Timmie's for a coffee and here I sit.  I still have to do my stretches tonight so I intend on doing that in a few minutes as soon as my coffee is finished.  I plan on doing my normal 4 stretches, 100 ab crunches, and hopefully the plank which I will try to hold for 15 seconds this time.  If I achieve this tonight, I will be completely satisfied!  Tomorrow is my session with Jeremy at 9 and then I will be watching Sophia for Nikki and Matt so I will try to get the blog up no later than 2.  Have a good night everyone!  :)

Day 85

Yes, it is late, and yes I did work out today.  I had full intentions to go the gym this morning but, as Mel, Norm and Sophia had come from Ontario to visit yesterday, I didn't get home until late and quite honestly, I just had no motivation this morning for anything.  I was too tired and just didn't really care today.

I did watch my eating habits however, I wasn't as bad as I could have been.  For breakfast I had 2 pieces of toast with 2 slices of tomato on each, a piece of cooked ham, and a piece of cheese on each.  Followed that by a coffee and I was ready to start my day of babysitting Nikki and Matt's Sophia.  Matt dropped her off at about 11 and it was so easy today because she spent about an hour jumping in her jumper and then started to get fussy so I tried feeding her and that didn't really seem to phase her because she was tired.  She fell asleep shortly after and wound up sleeping for 4 hours!  What an easy day!

For lunch I made up the leftovers of quinois, beans and 1 sausage chopped up and then followed that by a granola bar and the rest of my chocolate bar that has been sitting there for 3 weeks.  Relax people there was only a quarter left!  LOL

Nikki and I were planning on going to the gym at around 4 or 5 so when Matt came to pick up Sophia, Nikki had messaged me letting me know that she didn't know when she would be home as she was still working.  So I didn't think I was even gonna go to the gym.  I still had things of my own to do as we have a brand new till system going in to work and I have still not completed the course on how to use them.  Nikki wanted to know why I wasn't going so I explained to her why and then when I was done I thought to myself, no, you need to go because if the shoe was on the other foot, you would be really upset with her!

Jan was nice enough to give me a ride to the gym as she was going to Costco anyways and so I headed straight for the treadmill with my ereader and got to it.  I did a 2 speed and a 4.5 incline for 15 min and then upped the speed to 2.2 for 10.  From there I upped it to a 2.5 and left it there for another 15 min.  One more time I bumped it up to a 2.6 and lowered the incline to a 2.5.  For the last 5 min I slowly increased the speed so that my last 2 minutes was at a 2.8 and then did my cool down.  In an hour I burned about 430 calories.

Once I was finished, I went downstairs and saw Jeremy at the front counter smiling away at me and waving.  So I went and talked to him for a few min, grabbed my stuff out of the locker and called Jan to see where she was at.  She was still at Costco, just checking out and so I decided to walk from the gym over to Esso and then meet Jam and Merv there.  We had a hot dog for supper, and then I walked next door to home depot and waited there for them.  We finished up and came home to watch The Biggest Loser.

With the show finally over I decided that maybe it was a good time to have a smoke, do my stretches and go to bed.  After all, I would hate to have Jeremy disappointed in me for only doing half of my homework.  On the way outside I went to grab my jacket from the closet and saw the one Jan had bought about a month ago.  She didn't quite like it and gave it to me.  When I first put this jacket on, I couldn't even do it up.  The bottom button was about an inch away from the hole and there is no way that I was able to do it up.  So, for "shits and giggles" (excuse the language) I tried it on.

I was able to do that bottom button up!!!!!!!!!!!  It is still very very tight with that bottom button done up but the rest of it fits perfectly fine!  I couldn't believe it!  Right at this moment I am very emotional because for so long I have said, I'm gonna lose weight and I put it off.  And I am doing it now, I haven't given up yet.  I mean, 85 days, wow!

It has definitely not been a bed of roses that's for sure.  I have had some struggles, but just seeing different sized clothing fit is enough incentive for me to keep going.  My back still hurts, but not to the point where I can't move.  I am so grateful for alot of things in my life and I am so grateful that I have the support that I have.  You all know who you are and I love you very dearly.  Thanks for reading my blogs, and thank you so much for everything that you do!  :)

I finished off the evening with doing my 4 normal stretches that I do everytime.  I then did 30 normal ab crunches and rolled onto my tummy for the cobra stretch.  I held that for thirty seconds and then tried the plank.  I did it on my toes for 10 seconds this time!  The longest I have ever held it!  I then rolled to my back one more time and did 30 cross body ab crunches and called it a night.

Tomorrow is a rest day as I have been going strong since last wednesday and other than my stretches I will not be doing anytning.  Thursday evening I will be going to the gym after work as I am off at 5:30.  My blog should be up by 8 at the latest and then Friday is my next session with Jeremy.  Therefore, you get a day of rest from the reading and I will gladly return on Thursday for your daily "fix"!  Bye for now!

Day 84

I was a wee bit off to a slow start again this morning.  I woke up later than I wanted and wound up being a couple min late to the gym for my session.  I was lucky though in a way because Jan was still not feeling good and stayed home from work so I was able to take the car over.  As I headed down the street I realized that I forgot my water bottle and therefore had to stop at Esso to pick one up.  Darn it!  I had a quick smoke and noticed that Jeremy was there waiting for me to get started.  So I put my stuff in a locker and went up to the treadmill for 4 min.  He followed me upstairs and came to get me after my warmup and we got started right away.

The first thing he had me do was what he likes to call "trunk pulls."  Standing with your feet together you pull a rope with both arms extended straight out in front of you and pull across your body to the other side.  I did this 12 times and then had to do step ups on an approximately 24 inch step 10 times on each leg.  The back to the rope and this time I had to do a lunge and hold it while pulling the rope another 12 times on each arm.  I was able to have a quick rest and then we did all three over again for a second time.

From there he had me go to the other siide of the pulley ropes and pull a split rope while squatting and weighing 50lbs 12 times, go down and up the stairs 2 times and then a 3 min sprint on the bike not going under 90rpm.  I repeated this circuit one more time and then we went to the other side of the gym.

On the other side we did the double rope pull 15 times and then I had to walk and lunge to the other side of the gym and back and then repeat this as well.  He then had me using another machine that is very hard to describe but, what it does is basically the same thing as the railing for stretching out the back except for the fact that you are on your knees instead of standing.

After that we went downstairs and facing a machine with handles high above me I had to pull 55lbs down and then I got a quick rest and he upped the weight to 70lbs before I could protest, rest and do it one more time on the 70 lbs each time I had to do this 12 times.

He then told me to go upstairs and stretch the hamstrings and do the flexibility machine for my cool down and then proceeded to give me my homework.  I am supposed to do an hour and three quarters of cardio and stretches every day until I see him friday at 9am again.

This workout was pretty good although, my lower back is pretty sore at the moment and since I am watching Sophia today, it is not much more likely that it will improve too much.  My legs are feeling ok right now but I'm sure that by tomorrow they will be feeling it.  Tomorrow I am hoping to go to the gym once again in the morning and then wednesday will be a rest day other than the stretches.  Hopefully this week will be really good in the way of my weigh in on Sunday as I haven't really seen any good numbers or good progress for 3 weeks now.  Who knows?  Maybe...

Day 83 - Weigh in

I've been up since 7 this morning and quite honesly, I feel that I have a had a fantastic workout thus far!  I made it to the gym for 8:30, an hour and a half later than I would have liked, but I still made it.  I got my ereader ready and got on the treadmill and started off at a 2 speed and a 2.5 incline and then 10 min in I upped the speed to a 2.4 and increased the incline to a 4.5.  I kept on that for the next 20 min and then called it quits for the day, at the gym anyways.

I got home with my coffee from McDonald's and the roomie's breakfast and settled down to relax for a bit and drink it and then went downstairs and started the next half hour of my workout.  I started off with the 5lb medicine ball and holding it with both hands stepped over to the left and reached down towards that leg.  I then put my feet together and reached up and over to the other side above my right shoulder and repeated to the other side.  I did this 10 times on each side and then did 50 step ups on the new aerobic steps I bought a few weeks ago.  After those I pulled out the yoga mat and got down and did the plank for 5 seconds on my toes and then did the cobra stretch.  I then tried to do the plank from my toes again but was unsuccessful so I just did it from the knees for 10 seconds.

Next I laid on my back and pulled my left leg over to the right side to stretch out the back some more and then repeated the other side.  Moving on I put my right ankle on my left knee and stretched out the hamstrings a bit on each leg and then did 20 normal ab crunches followed by 20 crossbody ab crunches.  Sitting up I put my right leg flat against my left knee on leaned forward holding the stretch for about 30 seconds and did the other leg and then both legs at the same time.  I figured that this was pretty good for a small half hour workout and then made my way up the stairs.  On the way up I did 25 calf stretches with my feet hanging off the stairs and went up on my tip toes and then once I got up to the main floor I did the crossbody stretch on each arm and then both at the same time on the railing upstairs.

For breakfast I had a bowl of Special K with 4 strawberries sliced and mixed those with about 20 small blueberries.  For lunch I am having a ham sandwich with tomato and cheese on whole wheat bread and then for supper I am going to cut up some fruit and veggies.  All and all it has been a pretty darn good day so far and it's only 12pn!  Tomorrow I have my session with Jeremy at 9 and then once again I will be watching Sophia for Nikki and Matt so my blog will be up probably in the afternoon at some point.

And once again it was weigh in day and I was really hoping for some good numbers.  Unfortunately, I stepped on the scale only to find that I have only lost 1 lb this past week making my total weight loss of 22lbs.  I seem to be stuck in a rut at the moment but, I'm sure I will be able to figure out what I'm doing wrong soon.  Anyways, have a great day everyone and happy reading!  :)

Day 82

After forgetting to do my stretches last night, I woke up this morning refreshed, even though I really didn't get enough sleep.  Seems to be happening a lot lately.  I think it's time to start staying home and not having company so late ha ha ha.  However, I did get up at 7 this morning and checked my phone to make sure Nikki was ready to go to the gym.  She sure was, so I got ready and left at 8am and headed to Timmmie's once again to have breakfast and coffee before our workout.

We wound up going on the treadmills once again.  I started off at a 2.4 speed and a 2.5 incline and then upped the incline after 15 min to a 4.5.  We talked for the first 30 min and then I read my ereader for a little bit and upped my speed to a 2.8 and reduced the incline to a 2.5.  I stayed there for the next 20 min and then for the last 5 min upped the speed to a 2.9 and increased the incline to a 4.5 again.  By the time we were done, we were both satisfied and very surprised to find that it was already 11am.

Now that I have been home from work for about an hour and a half, I am finding that my back is really sore, I'm tired and thinking that I'm gonna have to call it an early night.  I am just not up to anything today and since I want to be at the gym for 7 tomorrow morning, I should probably get a good sleep in.  Since I was able to do my 2 hours of "homework" cardio yesterday and today, tomorrow I am hoping to do quite a bite of strength exercises.  If my back allows me to I will.  Tonight I am going to do my stretches for sure and I am also going to do at least 30 ab crunches maybe more.

For lunch today, Shawn was nice enough to go to subway for me and pick up my supper so I had a 6 inch 9 grain wheat bun with turkey breast and loaded with veggies.  It was very good and stayed with me for the remainder of my shift until I got home.  By then I wasn't really too hungry but I made supper anyways.  I had turkey chicken sausages, quinios, and fresh cook beans and now I'm sititng here pretty content.  That's all I have to say for today, hopefully the gym will go well in the morning and I will have loads to share as it is weigh in day! :)
