Day 213 - Weigh in

So far today has proven to be a pretty satisfactory day.  I was awake at 9:30am, had an egg omelette with yellow pepper, ham and tomato for breakfast, and headed to the gym for 12:30pm.  I got to the gym and started on the treadmill.  I always do the treadmill I know but, I find that I feel the need to try and get better and better on it before I move onto something else.  I started off on a 2.6 speed and a 4.5 incline and then 2 min in I increased it to 2.8.  Another 2 min went by and I bumped it up again to a 3.  I went up to a 3.2 another 2 min in and then up to a 3.4.  I was feeling pretty good so for 1 min I went up once more to a 3.5 and then up to a 3.6 for 5 min.  I slowly started to increased the incline up to a 6.5 and then decided that I better slow it down just a little bit.  I went down to a 3.2 and then increased the incline some more.  I wound up burning 300 calories in 35 min and I had to leave because my feet were really sore.  I feel that I did pretty good today and even though I wasn't there for my full hour like I used to be able to, it was still effective.

Even though the last few weeks have been pretty bad in regards to not being able to go to the gym, I have still been watching what I am eating and for this weeks weigh in I am quite surprised to see the numbers.  I am now down to 206.  I went down 3 lbs this week!  How exciting!  To date, I have lost a total of 58 lbs.  Only 2 more to go and I will have lost 60!  YIKES!  That's so exciting!  I can't wait until July, when I have reached my goal of 185, I will be going shopping huge!  I desperately need clothing!  I still have a ways to go, but I will get there and with this weigh in today, I have proven to myself that I can and will continue on.  I am more determined than ever now to finally finish what I have started and say goodbye to the unhealthy way of living that I was leading.

I still have not heard anything from Epcor, but I have a feeling that by Monday or Tuesday I should know for sure if I got the job.  My last day at McDonald's is on the 21st and I was pretty devastated the last few days but, I have come to terms with the fact that I just can't do something that hurts me.  I have accepted it and I will be embracing the next job with an open mind.

I have my session with Jeremy tomorrow morning at 10.  I am excited to go, but I am also nervous at the same time.  I am nervous because I don't know what he has in store for me and I may be a hurting unit afterwards.  But like he always says, "When you hurt, it's good!"  Silly guy.  It's only good if it doesn't hurt for 3 days buddy!  LOL  Hopefully the blog will be posted by afternoon.  Will have to see.  :)

Day 211

I actually made it up before 11am today.  I am quite proud of the fact that I was up at 9:30am and out the door headed to the gym by 11.  I got to the gym, avoided Jeremy successfully, and got onto the treadmill.  I did a 4.5 incline and a  2.6 speed for 15 min and then increased the speed to a 2.8 for another 5 min.  I then increased the speed once more to a 3.0 for 3 min and then finished the other 2 min at a 3.2.  I hit the cool down button and at the end of the 30 min I wound up burning 210 calories.  I figured that was pretty good and wiped my machine off.

I decided that I wanted to at least try the eliptical for a little bit and started heading over to the ladies only room where I was intercepted by Jeremy.  I really didn't want to see him or talk to him today because I am still very upset with the outcome of this whole job thing and although I am really happy to be hopefully going to Epcor and doing something that is good for me, I am still really upset at the fact that I am unable to do what I want to do.  Anyways, Jeremy asked me how I was doing and asked if I had gotten the final confirmation yet.  I told him that I wasn't really good today, and that no I didn't yet.  He said to keep my head held high basically and that we would talk on Monday because he wanted me to finish off my workout.

So I carried on to the eliptical and wound up doing a level 1 for 5 min to get used to it again and then bumped it up to a 6 for another 5 min.  I never went down under a 4.2 speed which is pretty good for me.  I jumped off and wound up burning 100 calories there.  So in total I burned 300 calories today in a 40 min workout which seemed to make me feel pretty good.  I will be going back to the gym tomorrow and Sunday as well and hopefully I will be able to stay a little bit longer.

I am doing my stretches pretty soon here before I have to go to work and as it is Friday, I will probably have to do them again when I get home.  One more week of excruciating pain, and then I can maybe get back to normal pain.  Sounds so weird when I write it like that and then read it but it is true.  Normal pain is definitely better than the lateral.

Day 210

I did not go to the gym today, and I am feeling extremely guilty.  For the last 3 weeks I feel like I have accomplished nothing really and that I haven't been giving it my all.  I also feel like I am starting to slip and I am not sure why I am but, I do know that I cannot allow myself to do this anymore.

When I started my job with McDonalds I was very happy to finally be going back.  I know, McDonalds, you can do so much better than that.  At least that's what everyone keeps telling me all of these long years that I have worked for the company.  I love my job, I love the people I interact with, especially the staff.  I get new challenges every single time I go in and that is what intrigues me.

About a month ago, I started to notice that my feet were getting really bad.  I also noticed that I would stay home from the gym more, neglect my stretches more and now I just can't do it anymore.  I put in my notice at McDonald's last night.  I can't do this job physically and it really makes me feel like I am defeated.  I feel useless and I know that it is not my fault, that my body can't take standing on my feet for 8 hours a day and running around like a chicken with its head cut off.

My eating habits are starting to get really out of wack too.  It's not like before where I was eating way more than I should have been, but it is slipping as well.  And so, because of the back, feet and unhealthy eating habits, this is why I have decided to quit.  I have no choice.  I have to.  If I want to continue on my journey of a healthier lifestyle and if I want to get any better, I have to remove myself from the restaurant scene immediately.

Last week I applied for a job at Epcor.  I had a mini interview on the phone, and then went in this past Tuesday for an actual person to person interview.  I believe I did well, in fact, Sara works there and she gave me the heads up that my name is on the "yes" pile.  So, I handed in my notice to McDonalds.  My whole thought process was, even if it doesn't pan out for Epcor, I still have my job at Esso.  I called them before I started work and asked them if I could come back full time if I did not get the job at Epcor.  They said they will find something for me and not to worry about how I will be making my bills.

I have been on an emotional roller coaster today.  Like I said, I feel really bad for leaving.  I really did think that I was going to be ok and that I could do the job.  This frustrates me to no end because I really didn't want to quit.

However, once I got home from work, I did do my stretches.  The pain was almost unbearable as I haven't done any stretches since Monday and of course my feet are really bad right now as well.  I sure hope this Plantar Fasciatis will go away soon.  I don't need it on top of the scoliosis and I am really tired of almost falling when I get out of bed in the morning.

Tomorrow morning I hope to be up at 8 am so that I am able to go to the gym.  I really do wish that my feet will be ok because I just want to go and lose myself for a couple of hours.  I need some time to think, and I need some time to pick myself back up and get back on track.  Only I can do this and no amount of motivation and support can do that for me.  I have to do it on my own.  I have also been doing a lot of thinking about getting more sessions.  I was originally thinking that if I could afford to pay the money before, I can pay the money again.  After thinking about it, and wondering if I really can do this on my own, I have concluded that I am not going to purchase more.  I need to stand on my own two feet and give it my all.  I have come so far with a bit of help, but I will do the rest by myself.

Day 209

Soon, soon I will have great news to share!  I hope so anyways.  Some people already know what is going on.  I am about to make yet another life change and I am so excited about it!  I am really hoping that everything works out the way I want it to.

This morning, well, this afternoon rather, I got up at 10:30am.  The last couple of nights had been late ones and it looks like today is no different.  I was thinking maybe I could get out of work a little bit earlier, come home and do my stretching and then get to bed.  It sure doesn't look like it is going to happen that way.  I will however be doing my stretching because I know I can feel it in the back and if I don't do it, there will be a pretty good chance that I will not be able to work tomorrow.  So, I guess it has to be done.

Anyways, I woke up to find a text message from Sara.  She updated me on the status of her man, as he is pretty sick with pbeumonia, and then I jumped in the shower to get ready for the gym.  I was hoping to get an hour and a half in today, but, again, it didn't work out the way I had planned it.  I got to the gym at 1:30pm and found out that Jeremy was there.  I had sent him a text earlier to let him know the good news that Sara had given me, and didn't think he would be there at that time.  He usually takes a break and leaves for a couple of hours and then comes back until 8pm.  I guess that wasn't the case today.

I changed my shoes, locked up my stuff and went up to the treadmill.  I started off at a 2.6 speed and an incline of 4.5.  After 5 min, I increased the speed to a 2.8 and the incline up to a 6.5.  I went on for another 5 min and then increased the speed again to a 3 and raised the incline to a 9.  At the end of my 30 min workout I had finished off the last 5 min at a 3.2 speed and hit that cooldown button.  I am not sure how many calories I burned because Jeremy had come over to the treadmill and was talking to me when I started and I forgot to punch in my weight to track the calorie burn.

I got off of the treadmill after a half an hour and started to head downstairs.  I needed to be at the airport for 3:30pm to pick up Jan and I still had to come home and put my laundry in the dryer.  All in all, my spirits are pretty good today.  I had a good shift at work, and I am a little more than anxious to get to sleep so that I can get up at a decent time tomorrow morning to get to the gym.  I will have to walk tomorrow because I now have no car to drive.  :(  Oh well, it was nice while it lasted and maybe soon I will have my own once again.

Tomorrow's blog will be up much sooner that tonight.  I didn't have time to do it any earlier tham now but, at least it's up!  :)

Day 208

Blog time!  My favorite time of day!  I had a good day so far, this morning I had somewhere to be, a fairly important place to be in fact, for 9:15am.  I can't say anymore than that unfortunately but, I can say that it went well.  I hope to have some perfect news to share within the next week.  Once I was finished, I came home, let the dogs out, and proceeded to the gym.  Unfortunately, I didn't really have much time to get an hour long workout in today but, as I start work at 5 tomorrow, I can go to the gym and make up for lost time then.

I did the treadmill today, of course.  I started off on a 2.6 speed, 3.5 incline and then 5 min in I increased the speed to a 2.8.  At the 12 min mark I then bumped up the incline to a 9 and increased the speed to a 3.  I was feeling really good and so I stepped it up a little bit for the next min.  I raised the speed to a 3.1 and then the following min up to a 3.2.  At 15 min I increased the incline to a 12 and carried on for 5 min.  I hit the cooldown button and finished off the last 10 min at a slower speed.  I wound up burning 210 calories which is surprisingly good for me.  Considering the fact that I had not been in the gym for a week and also considering the fact that I was sick as well.

I wound up starting to cough however, and I decided that I should probably stop for today.  I don't want to reverse what the antibiotics are doing and figured that I should take it a little easy for the first couple days back.  I saw Francios today as well.  (Nikki's former trainer)  He asked me where I had been, that he was concerned and I told him that I had been sick with bronchitis.  He said that he was glad to see me back and quite honestly, I am sooooo glad to be back as well!  I missed it so much and hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get on that eliptical and burn 300 calories like my awesome sister in law!  I know I won't be able to do it in 30 min like her though but I'm sure gonna try!

I have to work tonight so, when I have finished work I plan to come straight home and do my stretching that I need to do and then hit the pillow.  I really want to be able to get up early again tomorrow and have an amazingly productive day!

Yesterday I went to my grandmother's house.  My New Year's resolution has finally been started.  We had a nice chat, just the two of us.  I shed some tears, will not deny it, but this talk needed to be done.  I love my grandmother so much and am so happy to have gotten some things off of my mind.  My healing process has finally begun.  Next up, my dad.  I hope everyone is as understanding and will see why I need to do this.  I cannot even hope to keep this weight off if I am not happy and cannot possibly be truly happy with myself as a person if I don't deal with the issues that led me to this place to begin with. :)

Please keep in mind that this blog is a reminder to me about this whole process and that anything I disclose here is to help me gain the knowledge to conquer my obesity.  Not only to conquer it, but to help me become the best I can possibly be and to also be more of a positive person instead of negative.  I continue to thank all who is following this process with me and giving me the support and motivation to keep going.  This is by far, the hardest thing I have ever done in my life and I feel like a yoyo most days, but I know once this process is complete, it will be an amazing life indeed!  :)

Day 207 - Session

It was a good morning so far this morning.  I was awake at 6:30am to give Jan a ride to the airport.  Once finished there, I continued home and stopped for a coffee on the way and when I got there I had my breakfast and got ready to go to the gym.

I got there at 9:30am, had a quick smoke, and went inside to do my warm up.  I actually zoned out for a little bit so when Jeremy came up behind me, he startled me a little bit and then laughed at me.  Needless to say we got started right away.

First we went over to the TRX ropes where I had to do about 15 assisted squats, and then I had to do side lateral lunges across the gym and back.  I repeated these two and then he had me do 10 step ups with a 5lb dumbell raising it above my head from the shoulder on each arm and then off to do my favorite excersise (not really) going down and up the stairs 2 times.  I repeated the step ups and the stairs and then I was able to have a little break.

From here he had me do 10 pushups, and then about 15 ab crunches and then I had to do the crossbody stretch because my back was hurting pretty bad.  Then we went over to the hamstring machine and did a few leg stretches and glute stretches there.  Then went back to the mat for 12 more pushups and 15 ab crunches.  I had to go down and up the stairs 2 times again and then we did 10 chin up and dip assists, the stairs and then I repeated them again.  When I got back upstairs Jeremy told me he wanted to see me in the gym every day this week, to do an hour of cardio every day and once again stretches.  No break in between.  I then did my cooldown and walked over to the Esso to get my beloved Timmie's coffee!

I am feeling pretty good right now, I am at my Grandmother's house for a visit, and if I continue to feel good I just may have to go back to the gym for another workout tonight.  Hopefully all goes well!  :)

My next session is again next Monday at 10am and I really hope that he pushes me hard again.  I look forward to it!  :)

Day 206 - Weigh in

It has been quite the rough time these last 2 weeks.  I have been so sick and I know I haven't been well enough to go to the gym at all in over a week.  I am pretty upset about this fact along with a few other things but I will get to that in a little bit.  It seems that I can take 2 steps forward all the time in getting my life back on track and then always something happens to knock me 10 steps back.  I was hoping to get myself a car within the next couple of months but, now it looks like it's not going to happen.  I know my financial problems and issues are all my fault and I am trying so hard to clean up the mess.  It just doesn't seem to be happening as I wish it would.

I went to the doctor last week finally because I was so sick and found out that I had bronchitis.  So I went over to get my perscription filled and i wound up spending a total of 85 dollars there.  I guess that's the price you pay for being sick.  Ha ha ha

On Friday I was hoping to get to the gym but, unfortunately my feet were so sore from working the night before that I wasn't able to go.  It really does suck to be in so much pain all the time but, I do think it is getting a little better.  Not much, but a little.  On Saturday I hoped to go to the gym as well but, again it didn't work out the way I wanted.  Jan, Sara and I wound up going to the farmer's market downtown and then we drove sara home, stopped in at Reitman's and Pennington's and by the time we got home I had 15 min before I had to leave for work.  So no stretching and no gym.  Grrrr.

Today I work at Esso at 4 so if I feel up to it and can get moving on my feet today, I am going to try my best to get over there.  I sure do miss that place!

Anyhow, I wound up closing my door to my bedroom last night without noticing that Charlie was in there with me so at 9am she woke me up and was wanting to go out to have something to eat.  We snuggled for about half an hour and then I got up.  I came downstairs, talked to Jan for a few min and then carried on downstairs to get the weigh in done.  I was so scared that I had gained weight, I almost delayed the weigh in for a week.  However, if I did that I wouldn't know for sure what happened while being sick and all.  I have been checking it for the last week and it has been up and down drastically.  So I figured I should just keep the true weigh in.  It looks like I lost 1lb again which is great.  A pound lost is another pound closer to my goal.  I am now at 209lbs and my total loss to date is 55lbs!  Yay!

Tomorrow I have a session with Jeremy at 10am and then I will be heading out to my Grandma's house for a little visit.  Actually, more than most likely I will probably wind up being there all day.  Who knows?  Anyways, I will be sure to make a post while I am out there with her. :)
